COVID-19 and Christmas

No twelve days of Christmas, this year there’s only five,

And if the toll of deaths should rise, let’s hope we’re still alive.

For once again we cannot move, we are no longer free,

It’s just the same as lockdown as we are in tier three.

On the first day of Christmas the lockdown’s set to ease

So families can mix again around the Christmas trees.

On the second day of Christmas we still have to follow rules,

Six-feet apart, washing of hands and masks like we’re all ghouls.

On the third day of Christmas, presents are unwrapped,

And all the excess food we eat can easily be crapped.

On the fourth day of Christmas after everything we ate,

We have to have a final hug before we separate.

On the fifth day of Christmas a vaccine gives us hope,

Coz if Covid’s strong in twenty-one I’m not sure how we’d cope.

Humankind is fighting back, so let’s hope Covid will be done,

And once again we can go out to eat, drink and have fun.

A final word of gloom turns my smile into a frown,

There’s every chance as numbers rise, once more we’re in LOCKDOWN!

A drop from twelve right down to five, seven lost that’s plenty,

But there may be NO days of Christmas to finish 2020!
